Dalmeny Estate Photoshoot: A Twist of Fate and Childhood Memories - with Delphi Primrose.
It's always fun doing the hair & makeup for a shoot which is styled by Vixy Pixy Rae. This one has a story full of chance attached to it.
It's always enjoyable to do the hair and makeup for a photo shoot styled by Vixy Pixy Rae. This shoot has an interesting story attached to it. Months before the shoot, Vixy noticed Delphi wandering around the V&A museum and asked if she would be interested in modeling for her business, Stewart Christie. Despite already being signed to a modeling agency, Delphi agreed. In a twist of fate, the location for the shoot was the sprawling Dalmeny estate, where Delphi and her siblings had grown up. It had been in her family for generations.
During the shoot, Delphi shared stories of her childhood at the estate, including climbing trees and her dad making speeches in the library. Although we always concentrate on work, we also enjoy getting to know our clients. Delphi, who had an impressive modeling portfolio, including the cover of Tatler Magazine, launching her as their latest “It” girl”, and a weekend for Louis Vuitton at Lake Como, entertained us with more stories.
Stewart Christie is one of the oldest tailors in Edinburgh and makes all the clothes on the premises. The shoot featured a mix of tweeds, tartans, crisp white shirts, and heavy boots, which kept the look contemporary. Vixy asked us to create four different hair and makeup looks, starting with a natural one without much product, then progressing to a full, defined black winged liner, lilac cream eyeshadow, added lashes, and a marcel wave.
Fran, the photographer, worked efficiently to capture the shots before the light faded on the moody Scottish winter day. The outside shots were atmospheric, and we huddled under an umbrella at one point. For the final shot, we piled into the Stewart Christie Landrover and headed to the fields with Highland Cows. Vixy, Fran, and Delphi got up close and personal with the cows while the hair and makeup team stayed warm and safe in the Landy.
